Senior Thesis: Gezellig
Project overview: Year-long graduation project, developing a suite of interactive objects for elderly users who are transitioning into care homes.

Gezellig is a suite of interactive objects that relate to the user through sensory stimulation.

The suite of objects includes a radio, serving tray, and a queen-sized quilt. These objects react to the user's input and inspire them to complete tasks, such as making the bed or fixing breakfast:

Tone is a combination of tray and radio that interact with one another to play music after the user makes a meal for herself. When the user places the tray on a table, the radio detects the tray and plays music that the user recognizes.

Hug is a quilt designed to recognize when it has been tucked in, and respond by turning on a heating blanket at night. Using a microprocessor and RFID reader attached to the bedframe, making the bed turns on a switch to heat the blanket up so that it is warm when the user goes to bed.
